Augmented reality, sometimes also called “mixed reality” or “extended reality,” is an extremely effective way to get customers and event attendees engaged and to deliver impactful and memorable brand messaging. There are many different ways that brands can utilize this innovative technology, but they all have one thing in common – the ability to blend digital content into the physical world around you. So it’s obviously extremely relevant for experiential and event marketing.

WebAR

Now that virtually everyone carries around a powerful smartphone in their pocket, this technology is more accessible and relevant than ever.

Developing native iOS and Android applications provides the highest level of functionality and control over the experience, so sometimes that’s the right solution. We can easily integrate AR functionality into existing brand or event apps to take advantage of an existing user base.

For short-term brand activations and events it often makes more sense to deploy WebAR experiences that audiences can enjoy from a browser without having to download any apps onto their devices.

Another option for events is to provide pre-loaded shared devices like tablets or headsets that attendees can use to participate in the AR experience.

We’ve built dozens of AR experiences for brands and consumers over the years.

Virtual Auto Showrooms
Macy’s Santaland at Home
Navistar AR

AR is a great solution for product “demos” without the actual product. We saw a huge demand for virtual “showrooms” during the pandemic and WebAR offered a great way for consumers to visualize a new car model in their driveway (or even in their living room)

Macy’s Santaland At Home is all about getting kids excited about a Christmas and engaged in the experience. We created several AR games simple enough for even toddlers, including one about Macy’s newest character Tiptoe, who was featured in TV spots as well.

One of AR’s advantages is that the experience can be repurposed for continued cost savings. For Navistar, we created a 3D printed bus for in person events, and also a web version where users could get the same experience by scanning an image of the bus on the website.
