Santaland At Home

During the 2020 holiday season, continuing Covid-19 restrictions created a challenge for Macy’s and the popular annual ritual of families visiting their iconic in-store Santaland installations. Our solution was to create a fun and engaging way for kids to visit Santa right from their parent’s smartphones. Kids had the opportunity to view a series of videos of Santa’s elves, play several different games, and even take a photo with Santa using Christmas magic (and some technology.)

It was such a success that we expanded the experience in 2021 and 2022 with a more extensive set of engagements, augmented reality games, self-exploration, scavenger hunts and more. And with the stores back open we even added a scheduler to allow parents to reserve their time slots for visiting Santaland in-store, especially in the busiest cities like New York. But having Santaland At Home also expanded the audience to kids everywhere, not just those who live near a Macy’s in-store Santaland.
